Air Quality Neutral Assessment
- Location:
Lambeth, London - Client:
Manak Homes
Background
The client was seeking planning permission for 10 residential units at a site in Lambeth, London. The London Borough of Lambeth (LBL) had stated that an air quality neutral assessment was required to support the planning application. The client approached Aeolus Air Quality Consulting (AAQC) to assist.
Problem
The client required an air quality neutral assessment to support the planning application.
Solution
AAQC first engaged with stakeholders such as the energy consultant and traffic consultant, to get the specific building and transport emissions data required for the air quality neutral assessment.
Following the latest Greater London Authority (GLA) guidance, total annual emissions were calculated for both the building and transport elements, which were compared against emission benchmarks.
AAQC were able to conclude that the proposed development was air quality neural with regards to both building and transport emissions.
Outcome
The client ensured the proposed development including cycle storage and EV charge points above the minimum requirements.
The air quality neutral assessment was written into a technical note. The client submitted the technical note to LBL, who granted planning permission in December 2021.
Construction is underway, with the proposed development on track to be occupied in Q2 2024.
